Mushroom magic

Amanita Banningiana

No, I'm not on any 'magic mushrooms'. I found where this fungi had pushed it's way through the leaf litter behind the big pines and had to get a shot of it. Then it took me awhile to figure out what it was! The Amanita Banningiana lacks warts on it's cap like most Amanita species have, so I searched for some time skipping the genre because it was described as having such. It's really pretty, I had to warn the monkey to leave it alone. I've decided that I need to get a field guide to fungi.
